Dr. Jessica Barnes joins us having just spent two years at Leerink Swann LLC as a Vice-President in MEDACorp, where she contributed to publications and worked on special projects for institutional clients. In 2007, she authored 13 issues of The Barnes Report, a life science research report distributed to 1800 institutional investors. The Barnes Report, although open to any new and innovative life science topic, was heavily weighted in Oncology. The goal of the report was to highlight new, interesting, and underappreciated scientific advances in Biotech and Pharma of which potentially translate into business opportunities. Prior to that she was a fellow in the Department of Pediatric Neuro-Oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Children’s Hospital Boston working with Drs. Mark Kieran and Judah Folkman. She developed novel functional imaging technology, evaluated the angiogenic basis of brain tumors, and tested experimental therapeutics in preclinical models of pediatric and adult brain tumors. Jessica graduated from WPI with a B.S. in biotechnology, and earned her Ph.D. in 2003 from the University of Illinois (U of I) at Urbana-Champaign. |
